Title: Unannounced Project

Genre: Educational Game | Simulation

Studio: Intergalactic Education

Team Size: 15

Engine: Unity (C#)

Timeframe:  5 Months

I worked on an unannounced space themed simulation game being developed in Unity during my time at Intergalactic. The game project is focused on creating an inter-planetary human civilization in the solar system through economy and tech development management.

My Roles & Contributions

Game Design

• Brainstorming design ideas and making design proposals.
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to document my work and contribute to team documentation (Creating & modifying excel sheets, word documents, etc.)
• Managing design related tasks in Azure DevOps.
• Reviewing and learning team documentation.

Quality Assurance

• Extensively testing every new version of the game project through Microsoft Visual Studio & Unity.
• Reporting, troubleshooting, organizing, and keeping track of bugs as well as player quality of life concerns mainly through Azure DevOps.
• Collaborating with the development team to solve/troubleshoot, report, and discuss bugs I discovered as well as design ideas.

Marketing

• Social media marketing using Instagram, Twitter, & Facebook.
• Creating and uploading promotional content like trailers and video for the game project using Adobe Premier & Photoshop.

My Design Experience & Takeaways at Intergalactic

For the game project, I made a number of design proposals to my seniors and gained valuable experience in the iterative design process in a team. One of my proposals which was implemented were aimed towards player experience and ensuring the player didn’t experience frustration in one of the moon landing missions.

Learning and observing the design process at Intergalactic was an important takeaway for me. User experience features and game mechanics would be brainstormed by designers and the project lead. They would be documented and iterated on until reaching a quality standard, discarding ideas that were lesser priority. This process taught me the importance of strong interdisciplinary communication and documentation as well as creative iteration.

I did extensive research through NASA and other scientific sources on the moons of our solar system in order to implement the most realistic and immersive content we could into the game. I helped work around how these elements can be gamified and created relevant documentation.

Quality Assurance

My internship was heavily focused on QA work. I created a number of reports, and gained valuable experience working on Azure DevOps in order to record and report bugs I discovered while playtesting the game. I received specific tasks from Azure and executed them in coordination with my team. I would create detailed reports about bugs I found with reproduction steps and other important information.

I also gained experience on version control through Microsoft Visual studio. I would coordinate with my team to update the version of the project and switch between different projects and project versions through our database.

I am unable to showcase in my portfolio too much of the projects details due to NDA reasons. Below is some already publicized beta content I had worked on!
